In addition to serving as chair of the EM department at SUNY at Buffalo, Dr. Braen has authored, co-authored and edited several Emergency Medicine texts, including Emergency Medicine: The Core Curriculum, Clinician's Pocket Reference, and Manual of Emergency Medicine: Diagnosis and Treatment.

About Buffalo: I love living in Buffalo, and have lived lots of other places (Boston, Hartford, Lexington, Kentucky, Columbus). Buffalo has a great cultural heritage, excellent professional sports, a nearby and usable outdoors, and usable snow (for those of us who like to ski, snowshoe, etc.). Overall, Buffalo is a very livable place."
Editor's Note: Dr. Braen has "done it all" in Emergency Medicine but remains a friendly, approachable person. Students, residents, and attending staff have all benefited from his leadership. He has the respect and admiration of everyone in the
