About the Residency: The residency program here in Buffalo provides a
friendly, well-balanced training experience in all aspects of Emergency
Medicine. In addition to traditional patient care activities,
residents will be exposed to some of the newer technologies in our
specialty like ultrasound, telemedicine, and simulation. Our
residents have an opportunity to get pre-hospital care experience as a
member of the Specialized Medical Assistance Response
Team (SMART), which was created to respond to disasters and special
situations in the community that require on-scene medical direction. When residents graduate from the program here, they are well prepared to
practice Emergency Medicine in a variety of settings.
About Buffalo: I am not a native, but since moving here to Western New
York from Colorado, Buffalo has really grown on me. I have realized
that this city and the surrounding Western New York area has a lot to
offer. And, contrary to popular belief, the weather here is really not
that bad. The summers are very mild, the fall foliage is spectacular,
and the winters are not as cold and snowy as people might think.
Editor's Note: Dr. Brown excelled as a medical student, resident, and Chief Resident. She represents the best of the new generation of emergency physicians.
