Current Position:  Private EM practice in Buffalo, NY

About the Residency: Our residency program provides a very comprehensive experience in all aspects of EM. We work in all settings (urban, suburban and rural).  Having multiple hospitals provides us a wealth of learning in different types of pathology, patients and hospital systems.  The attendings, residents and staff we work with are great!  We have a very receptive program director that truly listens and makes changes that we, the residents, think are most appropriate.  Best of all, we all have FUN!  Whether it is at work or outside of the ER, we have a laid back crowd that makes living and working together a pleasure.

About Buffalo
:  We have a lot more to do in Buffalo besides shovel snow!  Buffalo has so much to offer if you know what to look for.  A nationally acclaimed ski resort is only 1 hour away (Holiday Valley was ranked in the Northeast's top 10 in "Ski". Buffalo has water sports on Lake Erie and the Niagara River, etc.), professional sports, casinos, vineyards, restaurants, etc.  We also have very good professional theatre. During my training I saw Broadway casts perform Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret, etc.  Buffalo has excellent restaurants and bars.  Finally, it is economical to live in Buffalo.  Housing is about 1/2 the cost of most "big" cities.  Overall, Buffalo is a fantastic city to live and work.

Class of 2004

Current Position:  Assistant Clinical Professor and Emergency Medicine Clerkship Director at the University of Iowa

About the Residency:  This program gives you great clinical teaching in four very different hospitals - all with very different patient populations There is ample time to get involved in research. The reading groups and grand rounds add greatly to your post-graduate education.

About  Buffalo:  Everyone likes to talk about the weather in Buffalo.  Yes, it snows a lot - but the temperatures are very mild compared with other parts of the country and the summers are dry with highs in the low 80's nearly every day.  It snows quite often in the winter, but most of the snow is south of the city at the ski resorts.  Buffalo's winter time highs are around 30 - not like Chicago where it rarely gets above 10 in mid-winter.
