Academic Requirement For Emergency Medicine Residents

Residents are required by the Residency Review Committee for Emergency Medicine to participate in academic activity during their residency. In addition to attendance at and participation in weekly study sessions, Grand Rounds, and Journal Club, residents must complete at least one of the following scholarly track options as a requirement for certification of successful program completion.  The Research Director in conjunction with the Program Director will determine if the requirement is fulfilled. Residents should seek feedback from the Research Director on their progress toward meeting the requirement on a frequent basis (every six months at a minimum).

All scholarly tracks will have faculty mentors/representatives.

Scholarly Track Introduction

Residents will individually benefit in terms of learning real life skills for their career beyond what we teach them clinically, and the activities they undertake should extend throughout residency.
