Academic Track

  • Complete at least one of the following:
    • Write an outside grant application
    • Present an abstract at SAEM or other national meeting
    • Conduct a complete research project from protocol to manuscript submission to a peer reviewed medical journal

  • Attend a full SAEM meeting including attendance at 5 lectures on research/teaching

  • Develop a clinical lecture that can be presented regularly for departmental medical student lectures 

  • 12 shifts during 3rd year as a bedside clinical instructor to medical students, EM1 or rotators (generally 1 shift per month)

  • Complete one of the following (planning, implementation & evaluation):
    • Journal Club moderator
    • Procedure Lab instructor
    • SimMan scenario instructor

  • Complete one of the following:
    • Take an online/video/DVD series on teaching and/or research topics
    • Participate on a national level SAEM committee/interest group
    • Instructor certification in ACLS/ATLS or PALS
